Our ServiceMaster Solutions approach, the one that recognizes it’s all about the people, is led by our CEO, Mike Ulwelling. He loves business the way he loves sports; “I just don’t like to wait, I have to be out in front.” Maybe even better, Mike learned something really valuable during his early career, marketing for HP Color Printers. In managing our talented team, Mike frees everyone to be as aggressive as they can be, to be out in front. What’s his secret? Mike gets people over being afraid to screw up, “The only way to really win, for customers and for you, is to take chances. My team is rewarded for it.”
Providing commercial janitorial services, Mike understood his customer’s needs right away, “Our world is reactive – nobody goes to work and notices it’s spotless. But customers call immediately if something isn’t right. Our job is to react to those phone calls; to do our work in a superior fashion and then to find ways – new ways – to be proactive in the customer’s real world. Our success directly correlates to the proactive stance we take in a reactive industry.”
